I think of the percussion of heartbeats that pulsate with desire
within the chests of their bodies longing for something and I wonder
if it's something I can relate to
if I have felt that longing to

If in spite of our differences our bodies each echo a similar song
Water dripping teases of light in the crystal cave in our cranium
of fear and chaos
of joy and peace
where we find comfort and sanctuary

A familiar place that requires
'Welcome into my requiem'
a dream only illuminated when shadows cast away their nightmares
to be embraced in eccentric trust

Lack lustered or fuck flustered
I'm not all sparkle and shine like Sunday mornings
some days I'm numb
I forget what it is to feel

More than just nerve endings were severed when I cut away the past
my chest may be flat, but my scars are bumpy
These thoughts can seem intrusive
so reclusive
even in adjusting my perspective I find mirrored truths that haunt me
a nod to nostalgia as my headphones play melodic thoughts of memory
an erotic tickle of bass and eardrum

I think of the percussion of heartbeats
our bodies each echo a similar song
